I was thinking about underwater pavilions. How would I go about creating a pavilion underwater, but doing it using mass production. The idea to me was to creat sheets of the material to use for a plastic dome pavilion. It would be three sheets of a thick plastic with two layers of gel sandwiched between the sheets. When the two gels mixed together, they would harden and provide strength for the pavilion. The sandwich sheet could be made in rolls and rolled out under water where it could be inflated and then have the middle sheet pulled out so that the two gels could mix and harden. Depending on the sizes needed, the sheets could be layered over each other to make bigger pavilions or bubbles.
This all goes with my idea for living underwater. Why live underwater? Why not!?

I think that finding a way to expand human habitation to underwater environments in an environmentally friendly manner may be key to dealing with our quickly running out of room on the land we have. We have tons of room down there and really it's about the only way that anyone can start a new country. I've thought on more than one occation that it would be pretty cool to build an undersea city and declare it a new independent country.

One of the big things I'd like to see would be a sustainable local economy underwater. importing and exporting goods like any other local economy. Not just some dependent extension of the surface world, but a fully diversified and self sufficient colony.
The things we could learn from this kind of culture might lead us out into space and other systems with similiar challenges faced by living in the ocean.
It would be a fantastic way to test out ideas for colonization dealing with the isolation, the airless environment outside, and the extreme pressures.
